Interpretation of Information on New Cosmetic Ingredient

According to available sources, Ottelia acuminata is a perennial aquatic herb belonging to the family Hydrocharitaceae and the genus Ottelia. It is primarily distributed in Dali and Erhai areas of Yunnan Province, China, and also found in Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, Sichuan, and Guizhou. As an endemic species to China, Ottelia acuminata is listed as a nationally protected rare and endangered aquatic medicinal plant. Meanwhile, species under the genus Ottelia are also considered important bioindicators for the health of freshwater ecosystems.

Dictyophora rubrovalvata, a rare gelatinous fungus endemic to Yunnan and Guizhou provinces in China, is highly prized for its elegant appearance and rich nutritional profile. Commonly referred to as the “Fairy in a Snowy Skirt” in Chinese folklore, it has long been valued as a dual-purpose edible and medicinal ingredient (food-medicine homologous). It is rich in bioactive compounds such as polysaccharides, polyphenols, and flavonoids.

Isodon lophanthoides, a member of the Lamiaceae family, is a botanical variant of Isodon lophanthoides var. graciliflorus. It is mainly distributed in Guangdong, Fujian, and Jiangxi provinces, and also found in Sikkim, Nepal, India, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Studies suggest that the whole plant can be used as traditional herbal medicine, primarily for the treatment of acute icteric hepatitis, cholecystitis, and pharyngitis. In folk medicine, it is commonly used as a substitute for Herba Rabdosiae.

Sorghum bicolor, an annual herbaceous plant of the Poaceae family, is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions across Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. In China, it is mainly grown in provinces such as Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan, and Guangdong. As a traditional staple crop, sorghum is used for food, animal feed, and brewing. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that sorghum seeds possess functions such as strengthening the spleen, stopping diarrhea, resolving phlegm, and calming the mind, and are used to treat spleen deficiency-related diarrhea, cholera, indigestion, phlegm-damp cough, and insomnia with excessive dreaming.
