The Repeated Open Application Test (ROAT) is designed to assess the real-world skin compatibility of cosmetic products under normal use conditions. Participants apply the product repeatedly to the same skin area over a defined period of time, allowing evaluation of cumulative irritation and tolerance. ROAT is particularly valuable for sensitive skin products and supports claims such as “dermatologically tested” and “suitable for sensitive skin”.
