Analysis Report on the Filing Status of New Cosmetic Ingredients in China – August 2026

To help all industry stakeholders keep abreast of the latest developments and gain insight into market trends of new cosmetic ingredients, CIRS Group has systematically compiled and in-depth analyzed the August 2026 new cosmetic ingredient filing information published by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).

The following report mainly covers the number of new ingredient filings during the month, the basic profile and regional distribution of the notifiers, and ingredient interpretation, striving to provide the industry with valuable data support and information.

I. Number of New Cosmetic Ingredient Filings in China in August 2026

According to queries of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), a total of five new cosmetic ingredients completed filing in August 2026. The relevant technical requirements have not yet been disclosed, and none have entered the monitoring period (details are shown in Table 1 below). Compared with the same period last year (14 filings in August 2025), the filing volume decreased by approximately 64% year-on-year. As of the end of August 2026, a cumulative total of 139 new cosmetic ingredients had been filed in 2026.

II. Overview of Enterprises Filing for New Cosmetic Ingredients

According to statistics, the notifiers of the five new cosmetic ingredients that obtained filing numbers in August 2026 are all located in mainland China, and the five ingredients were filed by five different companies, respectively.

III. Distribution of Enterprises Filing for New Cosmetic Ingredients by Province/Region

According to the analysis of the filing data, the above five domestic companies are distributed across four provinces and regions, namely Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shanghai, and Tibet. Among all the provinces and regions where domestic notifiers are located, Zhejiang obtained the largest number of new ingredient filing numbers – 2.

IV. Interpretation of Selected Ingredients

According to queries, Camellia petelotii is an evergreen shrub of the genus Camellia in the family Theaceae. It is distributed in the evergreen forests on limestone mountains in southern Guangxi of China and northern Vietnam, and is a national Grade II protected plant in China. Camellia petelotii has both edible and medicinal value. Relevant studies have shown that it is rich in a variety of trace elements important for human health, as well as tea polyphenols and amino acids essential to the human body, and has various health-care functions such as lowering blood lipids and enhancing immunity.

Synotis solidaginea is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Synotis in the family Asteraceae, growing on open sunny slopes at altitudes of 2,900-3,900 meters, and distributed in Tibet, Sichuan, Deqin of Yunnan and other areas. Its dried aerial parts are used in Tibetan medicine for clearing toxin-heat, promoting wound healing and reducing inflammation; such uses are recorded in classics such as the Jingzhu Bencao (Crystal Pearl Materia Medica), and it is included in the Standard for Tibetan Medicinal Materials of Sichuan Province. Studies have shown that it contains sesquiterpenoids and flavonoids.

Gymnadenia orchidis is a plant of the genus Gymnadenia in the family Orchidaceae, distributed in China, the Kashmir region, Nepal, Bhutan and northeastern India; in China, it is distributed in Yunnan, Tibet, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai and other provinces, and is a national Grade II key protected wild plant. Studies have shown that its tubers are medicinal, with the effects of tonifying the kidney and replenishing qi, and promoting fluid production and moistening the lung. Modern research has further revealed that Gymnadenia orchidis contains glycosides, aromatic compounds and other types of compounds.
