Food serves as the essential material foundation for human survival and development. The entire process, from cultivation and processing to being served on the table, involves food contact materials and articles including production and processing equipment, packaging, and tableware. As stipulated in Article 52 of the Food Safety Law, manufacturers of food-related products shall carry out inspections of the products in accordance with food safety standards. Only after passing the inspections can these products be released for distribution or sale.

News Updates

On September 25, China's National Health Commission released a series of new FCM standards including the GB 4806.7-2023, GB 4806.9-2023, GB 4806.11-2023, GB 4806.13-2023 and GB 4806.14-2023. Among them:

• GB 4806.7-2023 is to replace GB 4806.6-2016, GB 4806.7-2016, and plastic resins recorded in relevant announcements issued by NHC (former NHFPC);
• 4806.9-2023 is to replace GB 4806.9-2016;
• GB 4806.11-2023 is to replace GB 4806.11-2016 and rubber basic raw materials recorded in relevant announcements issued by NHC ( former NHFPC);
• GB 4806.13-2023 is to replace GB 9683-1988; and
• GB 4806.14-2023 is a new standard.

All the above standards will take effect on September 6, 2024.
