
Recently, China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) updated the Feed Materials Catalogue and the requirements for safe use. The Ministry approved one new feed material, five new feed additives, and the expanded scope of application for one feed additive.
Approval of Pichia pastoris Protein as a New Feed Material
MARA approved Pichia pastoris protein (for use in growing-finishing pigs), jointly applied for by Beijing Future Competitive Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a new feed material.
Approval of Five New Feed Additives
1. Surfactin
- Applicant: Beijing Yinghuil Bio-Technology Co., Ltd.
- Source: Bacillus subtilis CGMCC 24947
- Function: Improves intestinal health and feed efficiency
- Target species: Broiler chickens
2. (2-Carboxyethyl)dimethylsulfonium Chloride
- Applicant: Xiangyang Xingsheng Feed Auxiliary Co., Ltd.
- Function: Feed attractant
- Target species: Freshwater fish
3. Glycyl-L-glutamine
- Applicants: Hubei Hongtai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Jiesheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
- Function: Enhances antioxidant capacity and promotes animal growth
- Target species: Weaned piglets
4. Sodium Diformate
- Applicant: Jiangsu Zhongdan Chemical Technology Co., Ltd.
- Function: Regulates gastrointestinal pH and improves production performance
- Target species: Broilers, laying hens, and weaned piglets
5. (E)-10-Hydroxy-2-decenoic Acid
- Applicants: Hebei Fengtong Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Jinchang Fengtong Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
- Function: Enhances antioxidant capacity and growth performance
- Target species: Broiler chickens
Expansion of Approved Use for a Feed Additive
The approved scope of use for rosemary extract has been expanded to include broiler chickens, meat ducks, and weaned piglets.
- Function: Improves production performance and enhances antioxidant capacity.
- Recommended inclusion rate:
- Broilers and meat ducks: 50–500 mg/kg complete feed (based on feed containing 88% dry matter)
- Weaned piglets: 200 mg/kg complete feed (based on feed containing 88% dry matter)
