China’s Hazardous Chemicals Safety Law and What It Means for Compliance in 2026

Presented by Adam Hembrecht, Chemical Regulatory Consultant, CIRS Europe

Date: Thursday, May 21

Time: 13:1513:45

Location: Stage 2, Hall 5

China's Hazardous Chemicals Safety Law will come into force on May 1, 2026, marking a significant shift toward stricter, digitally integrated oversight of hazardous chemicals across their full lifecycle.

Companies operating in, sourcing from, or exporting to China will need to adapt to enhanced supervision covering registration, production, storage, transport, disposal, and industrial park governance.

In this session, Adam will explore how the new framework operates in practice, including:

  • Expanded accountability for senior management;
  • Increased financial penalties and enforcement powers; and
  • Strengthened inspection and monitoring mechanisms.

The presentation will also highlight emerging compliance pressure points, such as:

  • Public disclosure of safety assessments;
  • Real-time transport monitoring;
  • Catalogue and registration controls; and
  • Mandatory Chinese-language Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labelling updates.

Attendees will gain a clear understanding of immediate compliance risks and practical steps to reduce exposure in the early stages of enforcement.
