Interpretation of Selected New Cosmetic Ingredients

According to available information, Paeonia emodi is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the family Ranunculaceae and the genus Paeonia. It is distributed in southern Tibet (Gyirong), China, as well as in Nepal and northern India, typically growing on mountain slopes at an altitude of approximately 2,350 meters. Paeonia emodi seed oil is obtained through extraction and refinement of the mature seeds of the plant.

Annona squamosa L., a deciduous small tree of the family Annonaceae and the genus Annona, is native to tropical America. It was introduced into China approximately 300 years ago and is now widely cultivated in tropical regions, particularly in southern tropical cities of China such as Hainan, Guangdong, and Guangxi. The fruit of Annona squamosa is aromatic and sweet, suitable for fresh consumption, and rich in nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, offering high edible and economic value. Its seeds contain oil; the bark fiber can be used in papermaking; and the root bark and fruit possess certain medicinal properties, traditionally used in the treatment of dysentery and spinal disorders.

Dihydro-resveratrol (CAS No. 58436-28-5) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C14H14O3. It belongs to the class of dihydrostilbenoids and has been identified in wine.

Baicalin is a flavonoid compound extracted and isolated from the dried roots of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, a dicotyledonous plant of the family Lamiaceae. At room temperature, it appears as a pale yellow powder with a bitter taste. Studies have shown that baicalin possesses antibacterial, diuretic, and anti-inflammatory properties, and it is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine as well as in modern pharmaceutical research and development.
