With the rapid development of food industry and the globalization of food supply, more and more new food raw materials (novel food) have been developed, and the research on new food raw materials has become a world trend.
In order to ensure food safety, the new food raw materials must be safely evaluated before they can enter the market. In 1983, China government put up the first requirement on new food raw materials, and released the first supporting regulation in 1987. After more than 30 years, the regulatory system has been increasingly improved, and many new food raw materials have been approved in China.
Under this circumstance, CIRS Food Technical Team decides to prepare a guideline on new food raw materials in China. This guideline focuses on the development course of new food raw materials in China, the current supervisory mechanisms as well as the future trends and gives an in-depth interpretation to the new food raw materials regulations in China. CIRS aims to deliver information concerning the new food raw materials regulations in China to enterprises both at home and abroad, so that these enterprises can better understand the current situation and management trends of new food raw materials in China.
